Bohemian garnet jewelry dates back to the 19th century. During this time, garnets were one of the most popular types of stones used in jewelry production. The garnets were often placed close together in an effort to produce a more pronounced color and brightness than when they were set singularly. Most often, bohemian garnet jewelry was set in a closed back setting made of rose gold gilt over silver; this method is sometimes referred to as 'garnet gold'.
A fabulous?Bohemian garnet?bracelet from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This gorgeous piece is made of gilded silver, and is set with 294?faceted garnets, which cover the entire surface. Measurements:?The inside of the bracelet (where a wrist would rest) measures 2 1/4" wide and 2" tall. It would fit nicely on a medium/average sized wrist. The surface of the bracelet measures 3/4" wide.
Condition: The bracelet is in very good antique condition. There is some?normal surface wear to the silver gilt setting and garnet stones, which is minor and commensurate with age.
